Always had good experiences with Horncastles. They do a lot of work round North London, and I've never heard any horror stories either.

PS love your name! Did you hear Metamorphosis on R4 (or 4Extra?) recently, with Benedict Cumberbatch narrating? It was excellent, I thought.

We've used Horncastles a couple of times (different houses) and they are good, though not always the cheapest - though sometimes different roofers will suggest very different solutions so the prices may not be directly comparable iyswim. But good quality work, they turn up on time, work efficiently, and have a nice person in an office answering the phone, so you can phone them and not end up talking to some random bloke talking on his mobile while goign round the north circular in a dodgy van. They think about what actually needs doing, rather than jsut trying to get you to agree to whatever they want to do.

They also do their own scaffolding, so you don't have to factor in an extra grand and have the hassle of organising a scaffolder separately.

In fact I can see a Horncastles logo from where I'm typing this, as they are obv doing the roof on the house diagonally across from ours - you do see them around quite a bit, so they must be doing something right.
