Help!! Does anyone know how long Nippon takes to work? Have been using it every day for over a week now in the kitchen and still they keep trooping back for more. Just says to keep using till activity ceases on the tube, but no timescale. I dont want to use powder really as it'll be messy around the kitchen (food, little fingers poking about etc) Any advice/ideas?

Took a good 3-4 weeks for us (but then I think we had a couple of different nests). It DID work eventually, just took much longer than said on the packet

A really good cure for ants is Ant Stop Bait Station. We seem to live on the biggest anthill in Britain but these are great. Ants crawl inside, take stuff back to nest and bingo - they're dead! Everything is inside a hard case so perfectly safe for children.

HAD (yay! ) a massive ant problem recently. I called the local council's pest control, and for a flat rate of £15 (figured I'd end up spending this throughout the year trying to get rid of them!) they have totally obliterated our ants! Within two days of them calling and treating our house (treatment is child and pet safe) our home is ant free again . It's meant to last throughout this season....we had it done about a week and a half ago and there have been no sightings of even one. I'd recommend it to anyone with ants this year!

Would be good if you could find out where the nest is.

Thanks everyone... I didn't know you could get help from pest control people for ants - and only 15 pounds too; will bear that in mind if it gets too bad. Not sure exactly where the nest is (urgh! there's something about the word 'nest'!) but they seem to be coming up from behind the fridge I think. They've been a bit quieter today so hopefully they've all snuffed it.
