ggg what a nightmare

They sound like anti social little twats who deserve a good kicking IMO.

However as that is not very civilised I think that speaking to the police is a good start. Do they have the equiv. of community police in france, who might hang out in the square a bit so that the troublemakers didn't feel so comfortable there?

Do you have neighbourhood watch or equiv? Maybe it woudl be a good time to start one if not.

what are the police planning on doing (after your statement)?

I think I would be quite worried about not having the support of the shopkeepers et al. Any way you can get them onside?

CountessDracula · 25/10/2006 17:21

Might the shops and residents be able to club together to finance some ahem.. private policing

TheDivineLiliLaTigresse · 25/10/2006 17:21

oh ggg that is awful
nothing seems to have changed a year on from what I can see watching the french news...
I hope the police will do something but there isn't a great deal of regard for the police force in France anyway is there.....
I just feel dreadful for you and ashamed to be french at times like these

BATtymumma · 25/10/2006 17:23

your right to take a stand. if everyone behaves with fear of them their attitudes will get worse and their anti social behaviour will soon become full on crime waves.

its always hard to be the only one willing to take action but i am sure it will be worth it in the long run.

TheDivineLiliLaTigresse · 25/10/2006 17:38

on the sticking your neck out thing, I would say yes, do, but try and get people on board and involve the school as their behaviour threatens the safety of several children.
I would also keep pestering the police
would it be a big job to put something up to stop cars going onto the square btw?

Good for you for actually doing something. It takes courageous people to stand up to yobs like this.

I don't really have any advice as I don't know the French system, but wanted to say well done for having the guts & public spiritedness to make a stand.

I hope the situation gets dealt with.Would the local press help at all?
