Anyone live in Nottingham....?

I am thinking of buying a couple of houses in Nottingham to rent out - preferably one to students/medics and one to rent to a family.

I've been told that Beeston is the place for buy to let as it's close to the University and QMC. Can anyone suggest any other areas for family renting or at least can anyone tell me the areas to avoid.

Cheers

avoid sneinton or the meadows like the plague as well as saint ann's (sorry if i offend anyone)

these are the ones that are the papers regular.

why nottingham ??????????

The park (area in nottingam) is one of these nicest places.

Beeston is good
lenton is students

Woolaton is very very nice but very expensive

If you need any more info give me a shout.

Thanks Fairydust - we've chosen Nottingham because it's not too far from us (about 50 miles I think) and it is apparently one of the fastest growing cities in England. We want to buy a couple of houses so the kids can have them when they are old enough. Other areas that keep cropping up are Hucknall and Nuthall and Apsley. Any comments?

West Bridgford is the most family-oriented area (well families with young families anyway, plus a lot of young professionals live here too) It's just over the river from the town centre and very well connected etc. Otherwise Beeston plus the Bramcote end of Wollaton are nice and good for renting out all types of accomodation, plus Carlton and Mapperley are nice too but less popular with students as they're much further away from QMC, the University etc.

Hucknall and Nuthall and Apsley.

All the above are on the outskirts of notts and are all on good bus routes - they've also just put the trams in as well

Easy lives in HUcknall so she maybe able to help with that.

We live about 15miles from notts but both me n dh use to work in the city centre.

Sherwood is another area with easy acces to city centre and close to City Hospital. Its a bit close to Forest Fields if you dont get the right bit tho. Better for students and medics rather than families.

West Bridgford is lovely for families but expensive? Lots of demand for renting tho. Gamston seems to be popular with families too but has no real centre to it.

I would avoid Aspley personally, sister in law used to live there and she didn't have a good time.

I live 10 miles east of Nottingham and shop there all the time. Good bus route
