Tasteful Photos

We had the most wonderful christening gift from our friend who is a photographer, he bought us a beautiful silver frame and he's coming to photograph us and our 8month old this Sunday.

I'd quite like some naked baby and daddy shots but don't want anything corny. Has anyone had some family photographs taken? We need some good ideas!

Parents are expecting a posed shot of the three of us in our Sunday best but that's not quite what I had in mind!

Black and White!!!

There's a very good photographer round here. She does black and white and also takes pics outdoors, even in winter! (Not sure if that would include a naked babe, though, lol!). The results are lovely, very unusual.

We had some done when dd was 9 months old with a photographers. We chose black and white shots, very informal, casual dress (jeans and white shirt) with bare feet in all shots. Best ones were unposed shots of dd on daddy's shoulders, both laughing and looking at each other not the camera and the very last shot, when she lay down on her belly (as if to say I've had enough). We gave a framed photo to the grandparents to commemorate her christening. If you can get your baby to relax and their personality to shine through you will get fab shots - photographer provided a few props such as building blocks and a sml chair so dd though not walking could pull herself up onto her feet and play with the bricks - these shot were very natural. We had some brilliant black and whites taken when ds was 3 and dd just 1. The photographer took them in his own living room so that the children were very relaxed. He had ds kneeling on the sofa and leaning on the back of it, and he took the ones of dd when she was playing at the coffee table with some toys. All the photos are very natural and unposed, but are the best photos I've ever seen of my kids. The only props other than toys were a string of white fairy lights on the wall in the background - in the photos these are completely out of focus but give a bit of interesting texture to the backgrounds of the shots (not something I would ever have thought of doing, but the effect really works). The session was short - half an hour in total, so that the kids didn't get too bored, and the results are so happy and natural - we had trouble deciding which shots to order, because so many were really good.
