HELP! 4 yr old DD turning into Bob Marley

Beccarollover · 22/04/2004 20:48

DD went to bed with wet hair and woke up with the most horrendous tangle in her hair yesterday - tried to get it out with tangle tamer but couldnt even budge it it was so matted and she was screaming and had to get to work so tied it back - had another go tonight but still couldnt do much and didnt get much chance so she has gone to bed with it AGAIN (v bad mummy alert)

It has turned into almost a dreadlock

What the hell do I do with it?

I have tried semen etc

Does anyone have any good ideas as she wont let me within 400 yards of her with a brush without screaming now - any handy tips?

becca, if you wash it again (gently) and then put loads of conditioner in and then comb it through, bit by bit (holding it between the comb and the roots), would that do it?

Janh · 22/04/2004 20:50

oh, is this the wrong one????

Beccarollover · 22/04/2004 20:51

It probably would eventually - but the actually tat is SO matted its unreal - its like really thick and poor DD has developed phobia to the comb sigh!

I was wondering if there was anything I could put in to soak for a few hours - olive oil or something?

Hope you noticed I ignored your typo, becca! I'm a lady I am!

Nope, I don't think any soaking will help - you will have to either comb it through bit by bit or chop it off. Ask her what her preference is!

Thanbks becca, i'm crying pms

kiwisbird · 22/04/2004 20:57

try and do it under the shower stream if she is old enough, lots of cheap conditioner and a brush... 5 p for every minute she stands it and a pack of choc buttons if she allows you to detangle
assuming she is old enough to negotiate with...

I'd like to know what semen was the typo for?

Becca, I think all you can do is drench it in conditioner and comb it thru bit by bit. Don't try combing from the top down, take the last inch of it and get that done, then move up an inch and so on

If you know anyone who has it, Avon leave in conditioner would be good and Aussie do a spray on leave in conditioner that detangles - you could wet her hair and condition it, rinse it out then use a leave in conditioner before you start combing, or keep spraying the bit you are combing.
The very best one I can think of is organics intensive conditioner, but its about £6 for a tub. lots of luck

PS
Oil won't help I'm afraid!

I'll never be able to look at serum in the same way again! WHEEZE!

Lisa78 · 22/04/2004 20:58

Oh and use a wide toothed comb, an afro comb if you can find one

Beccarollover · 22/04/2004 21:02

I use the Aussie spray in at the moment its normally really good but isnt doing anything on this baby! Honestly its like that matted fur cats get
