How much for a Paper Round?

I'd like to know how much money a kid would make from a paper round in the UK, perhaps Kent, these days? it sounds silly but I'm writing a story and I can't find any recent info online. I live abroad or I'd just ask a newsagents myself.

Does your child do a paper round? how much do they usually make?

My 13 year old does weekdays and gets £10. If she did weekends she would get an extra £5

We had a newsagents as I was growing up. I hated paper rounds but we often had to stand in for the absent paperboys and girls. My parents gave £10 for about 20-30 papers spread over 4-6 streets. Took about 30 mins but I honestly hated it with a vengeance. They paid £10 per round for 5 days a week.

The only perk was doing it over Christmas. It was usually cold, wet and windy or snowing and paperboys/girls would be fail to turn up around Christmas so we would begrudgingly take over and would get loads of tips and extra cash.

This was 25 years ago, by the way.

Back in the 80s I used to get £3 for a once-a-week round delivering a freebie local paper. It took about 2.5hrs but could have been done in under 2hrs if I'd gone as quickly as possible.

Round here, 6 days a week gets £20 for an evening round and £25 for a morning one. That's in Edinburgh.

DS used to get £3 per day about 2 years ago, doubt it has changed much since then! He got up at 6, had breakfast at 6.30, left the house for a 5 min cycle to the store, picked up his papers, think it might have been about 20, and delivered them all around our area, finishing up at our house just after 7. Time for more breakfast and a shower and then leave for school about 7.35. He did it for almost two years until he got a "proper" Saturday job, I thought it was quite impressive myself!
