Aberfan Disaster, 40years ago

Just want to let you all know it is 40years ago today that the tragic Aberfan Disaster happened.

I am thinking of everyone who lost somebody that day and was involved in the searching.

With you there jobe04. Was a terrible tragedy.

I live not far from Aberfan so it has featured alot around here recently. I wasn't even born when it happened, but just the thought of what happened and what that community had to go through brings me to tears.

My thoughts are with everyone involved

I posted about the same thing yesterday.

I was 4 at the time and lived in another valley. My father went to help with the searching, all the men did. They dug with their bare hands.

I live in a few valleys east, but everyone around here is so upset.
My nan-in-law (!) walked from Cwmbran to Abervan carrying extra blankets etc.

Oh dear what happened?

Did anyone see the programme the other night about the photographer revisiting the site very recently after taking some very moving photos there at the time?
