The Mum casually mentioned at the school gates yesterday. Now she seems lovely, but we don't know her, she will also be with her dh woh I have never met.

Now whilst I'm happy for him to play at her house for a couple of hours, not quite sure about trip out, dark cinema, ds gets easily bored, blah blah.

How can I tell her without causing offense? Or am I wrapping up my ds in cotton wool?

He's 4.5 btw.

I would be a bit concerned as well. Could you go as well, as it's a first time with them?

No I'm at work. Dh is off but don't think he'd like the idea of tagging along with a married couple tbh.

Has your ds been to a cinema before? If he has, and enjoyed it, I'd think it was fine - a special treat in fact. If not, or if he wasn't comfortable there, I'd tell the mum it won't work and reschedule.
