Anyone see Channel 4 program re behaviour last night?

I only caught the last 20 mins or so, but I was in tears twice. The first time when the mum kissed her little girl goodnight for the first time in years, but could only manage this when she was asleep. And the second time when the dad (who had had his daughter later in life) was explaining that he thought that people didn't want to let their children come to his daughters birthday party because they saw him collecting her, and thought he was some sort of disreputable character.

I could see that the gist of the parenting advice they were getting was that their behaviour impacted on their child's behaviour, and I was really pleased that they seemed to stick to it and improve the situation. Was that the overall tone of the piece or have I misinterpreted?

I watched it in tears too Gumdrop..and my heart bled for her when nobody would come to her party...
The mother was v. disturbed and must have had an odd childhood herself. She didn't interact with the child at all in the beginning, except to bark out instructions.
At the very beginning of the programme the Mother referred to her as "it" or "The child" - it chilled my heart.
The programme even had DH spellbound AND he is not one for programmes like that IYKWIM.
To be honest I can't get Georgina out of my head - I gathered that it was a repeat - how I wish they had been an update..
What will happen to poor Georgina in the end?!!

Myself and DH watched this when it was on the first time round and were profoundly effected by the treatment of Georgina. I must have cried about 5 times watching it and even my DH got upset. The mother was so cold and the bit with the video tape of them on holiday and the little girl wanting to be cuddled and the mother refusing was terrible. I don't know much about the parenting advice they got but it did seem to work, although I just think she needed an enormous amount of love.

I'd also like to know what has happened but lets hope she is getting some much needed love and attention.

Saw it the first time around, and also thought it was very sad.

Unfortunately it is no suprise that some of us grow-up so screwed up when our parents are treating us like this!!!

I found it heart breaking and very worrying that this child Georgina was on ritalin originally. Obviously very intelligent and thankgod the parents got the help they needed and deserved. Just so easy to label children and seems to be a growing tend. Yes i too would like to see an update on Georgina. larsxx
