Hello all I have very active (completely nuts) 2.6 year old boy and a brand new baby girl (6 days). Before having the baby i got DS a likabike so that he would scoot beside me whilst i pushed the pram therefore no need for double buggy. However i created a monster. HE is soo quick although v safe (always stops at the road and waits). EVEn DH cannot run to catch him and he is a v fit 32 year old. So i think the only way is to all be on bikes ,but we have a six day old !So my question is how young can a baby go on a bike seat and what are the best ones any advice gratefully recieved.

we used hamax sleepy for our twins from about a year old, they recline, hence the name! They are ok up to 22 kg I think so quite a good lifespan - check this

I've heard that the best thing for little ones is those bike trailer things. Sure I've seen newborns in the on the continent.

We got a trailer, spokey joe, off Ebay, but one of the DTs refused point blank to get in it! they were nearly 2.5 at the time so might be worth starting off younger, before they get to that mind of their own stage!

Thanks all, we had a seat for DS (he was about 1)but it has no way enough support for a baby less than about 9 months. Trailer is good idea always thought they were v unsafe but would be doing tow paths/ parks as a family not on roads obviously. Then when dd is 18 months could go in DS old seat which is forward facing and he loved !! Also think being in front felt safer for us , no idea if there is any truth in this, and gave him an feel for cycling if that makes any sense. Will go and look up trailers now...

The Rhode Gear Limo seat is good from 6 months - I've used it from that age, and been happy with it.

I think there is a dutch seat that works from birth, but I don't know anything about it.

Is rollerblading an option? Is your DS running off on the bike, or just going fast?
