Instructor thinks I'm test standard, so how come with dh feel like a nob? This is whathe says:

"Why are you in third gear?"
"I'd have waited till later to change gear"
"You use your hand brake too much"
"Why have you stopped/why didn't you stop"
"YOu changed down far too early"
"You cut the corner"
"Too much gas"
Whilst tutting/shaking head/doing screwing eye brows up face

Aaaaaarghh. This has resulted in me crying and now sulking.

If your going to sit there and moan drive your friggin self.
TWAT...
Good luck on your test

Since when has he been a driving instructork, exactly? Surely the point of going out with him is so you get some practice, not so he can play at being teacher.

ShowOfBloodyAndSeveredHands · 14/10/2006 18:11

Just turn round in the middle of this tirade and say 'your penis is a touch too small'.

Don't cry northerner, get even.

CreepyCrawlyCarmenere · 14/10/2006 18:15

Oh I get this too. I have sucessfully driven in Ireland for 6 whole years of my adult life, never got a ticket, never had a ding. and so as I am now practicing to get my UK license have been out a couple of times with dp He behaves as if i am 17 ffs, I have personally owned 3 cars!
I don't drive with him in the car any more. easier for all of us.

Heavenis · 14/10/2006 18:20

When you have passed your test in 2 weeks run over his foot.
When did he pass his test just after they got rid of the horse and cart.

Beccarolloveragain · 14/10/2006 18:23

Northerner, the day before my test my DH took me out for a drive which ended up in a crying, shouting argument

"I dont know you have even bothered to put in for your test"

Passed the next day

Sod him!

LadyTophamHatt · 14/10/2006 18:35

Northener, I passed my test 16 yrs ago and if I'm driving DH still says things like that.

I've felt like un-doing his seatbeat and crashing the car on purpose on a number of occaisions.
I wouldn't mind so much if if I was a worse driver than him but all the dents, scratches and bumps on our car were caused by him.
My life has flashed before my eyes a few times while he's driving too.....why he feels the need to comment on my driving is beyond me.

Gingerbear · 14/10/2006 18:36

Fizz, Fizz, is that you Fizz?

2pumpkin2pumpkin1 · 14/10/2006 21:34

My DP is an instructor and he actually gets parents ringing him/ coming out when he drops a pupil of to ask why he is teaching XYZ. He has even let them ride in teh back on occasions so they know what teh current advice is esp. re gears & handbrakes. They have changed the right way to do things - even since I learnt. Some of the things on your list sound like just that sort of thing (although I obviously can't comment on your personal driving skills ).

esp.
"Why are you in third gear?"
"I'd have waited till later to change gear"
"You use your hand brake too much"
"YOu changed down far too early"

Just tell him that the examiners are looking for different things to what they were X years ago when he passed. Your instructor is the one to listen to.

Never go out driving with hubbie b4 test. Hated it and we always ended up arguing. Men always think they drive better than woman anyway.

I think i drove my worst just b4 my tests all 3 of them but i did pass eventually and now hubbie admits that im actually a really good driver.
