I bought 4 cheapish stools from the dreaded argos last week They are just extra seating but they go wobbly when you sit on them for any length of time and we have to keep tightening them!I haven't kept the reciept can I take them back and will they be able to trace the purchase as it was less than 1 week ago and I paid with a card

If they are not fit for their purpose (ie wobbly stools you can't sit on) then you don't need a receipt to return them. If they don't co-operate ask to speak to the manager, I think it is the Sale of Goods Act 1978 that you need to quote, but worth a google to check

You can use your credit card statement instead of the receipt if they do insist on proof of purchase.

and they have a 16 day money back guarantee don't they?

PretendFriend · 14/10/2006 10:47

I think the 16-day thing is just for if you have changed your mind and the thing is still in original packaging etc.
