dh said it could cause problems with the foundations and lead to them needing to be underpinned. but leave them alone until it shows signs of movement(gaps in corners or window frames)

Ok have asked my DH, who said if it's been leaking for about 20 years is possible. However, he said that the pipe is most likely made of copper and hasn't been protected from the concrete which has eaten away at it. So it needs to be dug up and replaced making sure that the copper is protected from the cement. He also said something about foundations going down over a metre......

After reading your last post about walking away to DH, he said 'tell them to walk away' because it will cost a fortune to dig up pipework up and replace and will take months & months to dry out.
