We are getting to the 1000 limit so I thought I would start a new happy thread!

good idea mrsratty

housemum · 12/10/2006 22:01

Well spotted - I normally just think that things have gone strangely quiet and sit like norman-no-mates till I realise everyone's talking elsewhere...

lanismum · 12/10/2006 22:01

cheers mrsratty, nice and shiney and new!

mrsratty · 12/10/2006 22:02

I told my daughters school and they are happy for her to do it but some are not even if you do get a licence.

Re the licences bit, I think the agent said that you need one for everything, but it tends to be just tv/film etc that bother to do them (presumably because it takes longer, photos are usually a couple of hours at most?). I'm going to phone the local council tomorrow to see if anyone there has a definitive answer as I really don't like the idea of encouraging lying (and what do I do when dd starts school if she blabs to her teacher that she wasn't sick she had her photo taken??)

housemum · 12/10/2006 22:05

My daughter's school are fine with her doing it but the person at the agency said that she encouraged parents not to tell schools.

housemum · 12/10/2006 22:08

Actually, it was quite interesting talking about the licensing, as apparently some years ago, the agencies used to be licensed and all that was necessary was a letter from the child's school which was countersigned by the agent and sent to the local authority. However, now the agencies are not regulated which means that the licensing is more hassle, and also the lack of regulation and license requirements makes it easier for scammers to start up "agencies".

mrsratty · 12/10/2006 22:09

Some schools really disaprove so much so that parents can't let their children do any modelling during school time. If your daughters school is happy then don't worry about it.

Have you decided to move or stay with the same agency?

For anyone with insomnia, here are some reasonably clear guidelines on licensing from a council website (I just put childrens performance licenses into Yahoo and found this) Children's licenses

housemum · 12/10/2006 22:17

Am 90% sure that want to move - it was just this bit about, "we can't accept mums who say they will tell the schools" that concerned me

mrsratty · 12/10/2006 22:21

It's interesting how all councils are different, mine will give a licence after 7 days if reqired yet Surrey need at least 21 days. It doesn't seem fair.

christabel · 12/10/2006 22:22

Anybody did ask this before but got lost in the arguments about BK.
Does anybody have any links with Euro Kids as they seem to do loads of things but also seem to have loads of kids on books.

housemum · 12/10/2006 22:24

Apparently the Performance Regulations (Children) Act of 1968 was where the 21 days comes from - most councils operate on a "will try 7 days if all paperwork OK" basis, but this may still be too much sometimes - I've had calls the day before a job, so presumably they wouldn't ahve know 7 days in advance that she was required. I've only once had to chase for a license, that was for a commercial.

housemum · 12/10/2006 22:25

Best go and show my face downstairs - DD was away with work last 3 days and here's me tonight on the PC... I may go and suggest a glass of wine or two!

mrsratty · 12/10/2006 22:32

christabel - Sorry I just have a limtied amount of knowledge about London agencies so can't help. Did you sort out the sponsership with CM.net?

OP posts:
christabel · 12/10/2006 22:49

RE CM Net - Sponsorship not sorted out, don't want to say too much as don't know who is reading this but not sorted so not going to Miss British Isles this weekend. I think DS has forgotten about it thankfully.

julie4travel · 12/10/2006 22:49

cristabel- sorry i do not have any knowledge on them i am afraid

ellesmum · 12/10/2006 22:51

christabel - thats a shame, dont think the other owners of cm net was helping much whilst isabel was away

julie4travel · 12/10/2006 22:56

christabel- thats a shame- shame they couldn't do a later entry due to circumstances

mrsratty · 12/10/2006 22:56

I assumed it hadn't been sorted out as they have taken away the message regarding the offer. I think that's really awful hopefully they won't ever do that again.
