Send good vibes - last chemo tomorrow

Tomorrow DS's friend has his last course of chemotherapy (we hope). For those who didn't see a previous posting he is 16 years old and had osteosarcome of his left knee. He has has an knee replacement and this is his 6th and last course of chemotherapy. He is doing really well but the chemo is really taking it out of him. In 3 weeks time he will get a total body scan etc to check that there is no recurrence anywhere of his tumour.
We are keeping everything crossed that he will have beaten it.

Fingers crossed for him. I know someone whose best friend at school had this years ago and she is fine now.

Very best wishes to your son's friend Mears. I've been off line for over a month - did he get to the concert in the end?

coppertop · 18/04/2004 16:08

Sending my very best wishes his way, Mears.

fairyfly · 18/04/2004 16:17

I will light a candle this evening in his honour, good luck

suedonim · 18/04/2004 16:27

Wishing him all the best, Mears, and I hope he can get back to normal teenage life once this is out of the way.

spots · 18/04/2004 16:39

Good vibes on way from Scotland-on-sea. Hope he comes through strongly.

mears · 18/04/2004 16:51

Thanks for your messaged - it somehow makes you feel better knowing that people are thinking of him.

He did get to the concert GRMUM - we managed to get tickets in the special needs area so he went in a wheelchair as he did really well after hip op. He had no pain at all due to having an epidural initially. He was out of hospital in 8 days that was apparently a record! He even managed to stand and dance for a short while too

Fingers crossed Mears - there was a nice piece on the Marathon coverage yesterday about a new Teenage Cancer Unit in Sheffield (cured ex-patient running to raise money). There should be a facility like that within easy reach of every teenage cancer patient in the UK. Best of luck to him and his family.

Janh · 19/04/2004 11:04

Everything crossed for him here too, mears. He sounds like a fighter!

Oh I hope it is his last course Mears.

marthamoo · 19/04/2004 21:22

Good vibes coming his way, mears. Let's hope that's it now.

mears · 19/04/2004 23:25

Thanks everyone. I think I will print this off and give it to his mum to lift her spirits. She and his dad are doing a fantastic job of keeping everything going - I am full of admiration for them.
