took friend to castle - doing tour of dungeons - looking into dungeon cell - dark etc as you know - felt someone move behind me - no one there and then just had a feeling of dread and came over all chilled - chills down my spine - very freaky!!

Ooh, spooky. On the subject of Colchester, I fell in the turtle pit at the Zoo, aged about 2. Also fairly spooky!!

Molesworth · 11/10/2006 12:01

well I guess if anywhere is going to be haunted, those dungeons would be!

Even though I lived literally within sight of the castle (did you go into the Dutch Quarter while you were there?) I haven't actually been into the castle itself for donkey's years - I harrumphed at having to pay LOL!

I was bitten by a llama at Colchester Zoo - not spooky but it did hurt!

eidsvold · 11/10/2006 12:02

we took dd1 to the zoo for her 1st birthday - my abiding memory feeding her youghurt with fruit puree and her mouth being buzzed by a wasp that would not go away. ended up having to stop feeding her - wipe her down and feed her in the car park BUT she loved the animals in the zoo so she had a good day.

annie whereabouts in essex are you from??

nah still in Aus - dh flew back to UK a couple of weeks ago for FIL's funeral but too expensive for us all to go. ( $8 000 and that is before we hired a car to get us around!)

I used to think that Colchester council tax payers should be allowed in to the castle free. So I boycotted it!

eidsvold · 11/10/2006 12:05

oh have a great friend who lives in Billericay. Well I taught at Chalvedon school in Basildon!!

Gosh, it's a small world, isn't it? I think my old head of year, Kate Spiller taught at Chalvedon after leaving our school.

DastardlyDevilishDior · 11/10/2006 12:06

Hi SD!

I remember Eidsvold that you couldn't come to our zoo meet up because you moved away. Really inconsiderate I thought

eidsvold · 11/10/2006 12:06

I agree molesworth - no one thought it worthy of a protest??

OP posts:
eidsvold · 11/10/2006 12:07

i think I had gone back to work or it was the weekend we were moving out and over to kent for the last few weeks before flying out to Aus - I had forgotten about that!!

At least the park is free (and lovely)

Sigh. I miss my old house

eidsvold · 11/10/2006 12:08

i love where we live in and love being in Aus but I miss Danbury too for other reasons. IF we ever moved back ( not likely ever according to dh) would love to live there again. fab house, fab location.
