SantisLittleHelper · 07/12/2014 12:30

God, I wouldn't have a clue. It's nice though. Very nice.

MrsPepperMintonCandyCane · 07/12/2014 12:32

TheSwedishChristmasMeatball · 07/12/2014 13:06

Elk I sent it on thursday, could it be in the junkmail folder? And yeah it said something like that Xmas Grin

SantisLittleHelper · 07/12/2014 13:47

Christmas 2014 discovery no.1: If you are unhappy like I was that non-drop trees just don't have the same fragrance as the old style Norway Spruces - did you know you can buy sticks to put on your tree that make the whole of your downstairs smell of Christmas tree? Mindblowing!

Christmas 2014 discovery no.2: You can buy an arch fake Christmas tree to go round your front door. So it has 2 bases, one either side of your door, & goes up & over & meets in the middle! What could possibly go wrong? Am just about to find out.....

FlopsyTheSnowman · 07/12/2014 13:59

Morning!!!! FS

Well, all is Christmassy chez Floppers, I do love how eclectic my tree is. I'm sure most of us are the same (non OCD) and have a collection of beautiful objects the DC have lovingly crafted, making the tree look like chrimbo has vommed on it. Ah, nearly organised but still a few things to get.

Oooh fancy , I'm the same as you about duvets. I get hot but need to be covered and don't like sheets so end up doing the leg out and over combo.

drink, love your mini rant about your mother after baddersesers FIL 'helped'. I'm sure we all need to lock our mothers in a room together and see which survive....'The Mumger Games'

Thanks for that letus , I do so love hi. Looking masterful and angry.......

FlopsyTheSnowman · 07/12/2014 14:03

I do so love him...

ApriClausIsComingToTown · 07/12/2014 14:27

Afternoon wenches.

I do so love how you all talk about your Mums.

So, I thought I'd make a Christmas cake. Looking at the notes I made on the recipe, I see I haven't made one since 2008, but the prices this year are exorbitant, so I decided to make my own.

So what happened? My beloved Kenwood Chef, which I've had for more years than I care to remember, blew up. There was a sort of a bang and smoke began rising from it. Fortunately I only had the fruit to add, so I grabbed the mixture and did that by hand and it's now in the oven.

Now I have a dead Kenwood Chef and a house that smells of smoke. Oh, and one set of lights has gone already.

TheSwedishChristmasMeatball · 07/12/2014 14:40

Grin at Mumger Games! My mum is a retired psychiatric aide, just sayin Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 07/12/2014 14:44

Apricot Sad re. the kenwood. And I think my Mum is fab, and MIL is pretty great too... (if a bit daft at times!) Grin

I'm not doing anything festive until this bloody manuscript is finished.... less that 100 pages to go now...

IntheBleakMiladyBeeeWinter · 07/12/2014 15:02

Hellooooo wenches. Just checking in from the loo. Outlaws here and it's DH's birthday weekend (why does he get a whole weekend when I usually get a takeout eh??) plus we have bought the tree to decorate this afternoon. The rest can wait till next week.

Have cooked fucking expensive venison haunch and drunk too much wine already. Off to get decs from loft.

My Mum would win. Hands down. Everyone I know loves her but she does an amazing line in PA and once knocked out her friend with a rounders bat due to a boy. She says it was an accident but then smiles.....,

IntheBleakMiladyBeeeWinter · 07/12/2014 15:04

Oooo is it a porn manuscript Helen??

Badvocinapeartree · 07/12/2014 15:10

Oh god.
Mums.
Jesus.
Mine is just...erm....where do I begin?!...
The negativity!
The PA nastiness!
The spite!

FancyFancy · 07/12/2014 15:17

Afternoon, have had a gloriously lazy morning in bed finishing my book, which was really silly as I have a heap of things to do which will be much easier to do today rather than tomorrow when the decorator will be back.

flopsy Grin @ Sid James, it always makes me think of Kenneth Williams saying 'ooo Matron'!

I was too smug last night talking about older children letting you lie in at the weekend. At 6.45am the (mains powered) smoke alarm started beeping as the (back-up) battery is running low. Bastard.

Right, need to attack heap-of-things-to-do. Am hoping that some frenzied activity on my part will rub off on FancyCat who has just come in looking like she's been through a walk through a swamp. I suspect she's been fighting with her arch enemy again. Bastard #2.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 07/12/2014 15:18

MrsB I wish Grin Being paid to work on 700+ of pages of tavern literature would be - well, indescribably fabulous. It is a tedious tome about finance/investment or some such. I mean, if you're into that sort of thing I'm sure it's an exciting and interesting read, but....best in its class etc. but sadly lacking in musketeers from my point of view!

FancyFancy · 07/12/2014 15:25

God I'm incoherent today. been for a walk through a swamp obviously. She needs to wash before she goes anywhere near the beds.

Can I add my stepmum to the Mumger Games? She's one of those people who worries so much about doing the right thing that the smallest of things ends up being a drama and the outcome's no better than if she's spent a fraction of the mental effort on it. By which time my blood pressure is rising and my tongue's bitten half through.

Badvocinapeartree · 07/12/2014 15:30

Well, I got up :)
Have sorted one load of washing, another in the dryer.
Ds1s PE kit done.
All homework done.
Kitchen tidied, dishwasher on.
Bedrooms tidied
Bathroom tidied
Need to have a shower really.
Dh is the shed.
I hate that shed.

GoodQueenWenchAnneLass · 07/12/2014 16:12

I have intermittently been snoozing and feeding the DC which means I now have less than 50 hours to read and write my essay. This is the most procrastination I have ever engaged in. Not really 50 hours because 14 of those will be spent at work.

My mums lovely.

In spite of the above I started reading Bridget Jones and plan to be at rewatch.

TheSwedishChristmasMeatball · 07/12/2014 16:42

I went to the English Shop (sorry, that's the name) yesterday and the had tons of Christmas fruitcakes, are they any good because it sounds a bit disgusting Xmas Hmm

Badvocinapeartree · 07/12/2014 16:53

WW....personally I wouldn't Wedge a door open with it, but some people like it!

NotEvenAnEnormouseStirred · 07/12/2014 16:57

Tbh, I'm not a fan of fruitcake ww. I'm making a tyrol cake for Christmas this year. And tons of pepparkakor.

Badvocinapeartree · 07/12/2014 16:57

I loves a bit of roulade I does :)

NotEvenAnEnormouseStirred · 07/12/2014 17:08

Or brownies.

I make quite a few cakes as I need to make eggless ones but it's only something I've got into recently. because I'm lazy

Badvocinapeartree · 07/12/2014 17:13

I make a decent flapjack

LetUsPrey · 07/12/2014 17:22

Badders - personally I wouldn't wedge a door open with it made me Grin

My mum's lovely with only the very occasional eyeroll worthy remark.

Been watching Penguins of Madagascar with DS2 and a couple of his friends. Was very good. I spent a fair bit of the film imagining Batch voicing his lines as the wolf.

Sad re Apricot's Kenwood

Is it Commodities tonight for the rewatch wenches? Melon-choly Grin
