I live 12 miles from Windsor and I have to say it's my favourite place, absolutely fabulous shops and restaurants, full of tourists though but there are some great parks nearby (Great Windsor Park being one of them, Bracknell Forest etc). The local library should be able to help out with local attractions, places of interest. I'm not too sure about toddler groups as I know a lady from Ascot who comes over to Camberley/Bagshot as she says there is nothing nearer. Unfortunately I think living in Windsor is a licence to add a few noughts onto the price of everything but I'd say it's worth shopping around. Where I live nurseries vary in price from £18 a day to £45 but there is a whole host of things to do at the local leisure centre to a huge number of indoor soft play areas to gymnastics, music, ballet classes etc so you are very much spoiled for choice. Living in Windsor gives you great access to bigger attractions like Thorpe Park, Legoland (crap imo), farms and even Brighton is only 1 hour away. Windsor is a fabulous place, just unfortunate that you dont get enough house for your money.

Thanks - we're buying in Old Windsor (although nearly fell through today) - and the house needs work, thats how we can afford to buy. But it is right close to Windsor Great Park - so a great location without being too busy as not town centre. thanks for your help.

Hi there

I'm also re-locating to Windsor in the next few weeks, along with husband and 3-yr old boy, therefore in need of lots of local advice!
I checked out the 2 full-day care providers, 1 of which, Edith Rose, seemed relaxed and friendly but got a not very encouraging Ofsted report. Anyone out there got any experience of it? Also went to Asquith Court but although staff seemed great I didn't like the v. small garden and 1st floor location.
Also, looking to join local groups to hopefully meet people locally, is there a regional Ladies Circle or similar in the area?
I also found Windsor library v. helpful -Children's Info Service there can give you info on all local playgroups/nurseries/playschemes etc for free as well as a really useful Chime guide with local, generally child specific info.
Final question - am dreading the plane noise. Do you get used to it??
Thanks then.

Hi - we're moving there beginning of May now. I think it depends where in Windsor you are with the plane noise - will you be in centre - can't help you with that.

We get that in West London so am used to it anyway!

Sorry don't know about day care haven't got that far yet, DD1 hopefully going to nursery at Kings Court in Old Windsor. Haven't checked out the OFSTED report yet as due to visit school son.

If I find out any more will let you know.

Where are you relocating from?

Thanks Tatcity. Hope your move is going well. We still haven't exchanged but are meant to be moving in the next few weeks, so rather nervous about it all at the moment! We plan to be in central Windsor and relocating too from London.
