I've been chucked.....

...by an Interior design consultancy service. We rang up these peeps a couple of weeks ago these guys and asked them to come over.

They sent a young designer who spent an hour discussing our requirements and taking photos of the house.

Then today we received a letter saying something to the effect that she didn't feel able to help us on this occasion.

It's a wierd feeling - a bit like being dumped but not knowing why you got the old heave ho.

Winchester is terribly snobby - I'm just wondering if we are too red neck and rough for them.

Any thoughts?

Well their "reputation for providing a complete friendly and professional interior design" doesn't count for much, does it?
I don't know Winchester, but presumably they would hope to get word-of-mouth business, so spreading the word around might have an impact on them. The local Rotary/council of commerce/small business networks might be interested to hear about your experience,in case they are recommended to other people on the basis of their 'reputation'.
Depends what you want to get out of it really...I think it seems incredibly rude, unless you had really asked them to do something outside their expertise.

I can understand why you're peeved but it sounds like the person who came round c0cked up in correctly understanding your requirements. If you rate this company's reputation / range of suppliers / previous projects I'd get the owner round tbh.

If there is still hesitancy or challenges to your budget etc. I'd call it a day.
