CRB checking?

Hi, the local railway (charity/heritage) run by volunteers and board members are looking for a man to play 'Santa'! Don't you have to be CRB registered to do this sort of thing? Can anyone point me in the direction of legislation or anything?

If you are to be left alone with children you should be DBS checked (formally called CRB). If there will be another adult present at all times (an elf, for example) then it wouldn't be legally necessary - although possibly still desirable.
