The Sept thread is starting to take over my "watched threads" page coz it's so darn long.

OP posts:

not quite sure if it would be worth taking legal action, although the threat of it should be enough. Obviously B&B know about it as you asked them to put her forward for the casting, what did they say?

mimi1uk · 05/10/2006 16:09

its a shame about the job, i thought some agencies allowed work without the licence??? i would deffo get annoyyed, with them, and call and demand they stop doing what they are doing!

mrsratty · 05/10/2006 16:09

Legal action would not be worth it as all they have to do is wipe her from their computer files or sign a contract on my behalf! Too much hassle!

mrsratty · 05/10/2006 16:10

mimi1uk - I did that last time!

mimi1uk · 05/10/2006 16:12

emm not good!< not too sure what to suggest maybe bruce and brown would call and say that ,,, daughter is contracted to us, on a sole rep basis, can u please take her off ur files, as she is not with ur agency etc, if they would do that

Quadrofiendia · 05/10/2006 16:15

mimi1uk its not up to the agencies about the liscence but the client, they could get in serious shit if the child welfare people turn up and the child doesn't have one.

ellesmum · 05/10/2006 16:15

if anyone who cant get onto cm net try this h-hosting.org/forumx/Forum.aspx?FId=1023

thats how i have been getting into it!

mrsratty - the threat of legal action would give them a shock i would try it and see what they say as they obviously arnt taking any notice of what u are saying

mimi1uk · 05/10/2006 16:19

so whos responsibility, is it to get the licenses?? the clients? or the parents, i was sure that loads of agencies did not get licences?? or am i wrong, and what is it they need licenses for? sorry not looked into this department, is it for photgraphic, or tv ads ??

ellesmum · 05/10/2006 16:26

think u only need licences for tv work but not sure

ellismummy · 05/10/2006 16:28

mrsratty, can you tell us what agency that is?, might help warn other people off.

Quadrofiendia · 05/10/2006 16:29

they 'should' have a lisence for all work, but if they client doesn't issue a part one then the agency/parent are not obligated to do one on their behalf. Lisences for television/commercial work have to be individual ones for each job.
The reason you have to have one is basically to state your child is well enough to owrk and has permission from school to be there, the child welfare people will then contact the child welfare people in the area the shoot is taking place and they may or may not turn up to do aq spot check which is to ensure the children are properly looked after/safe etc.

Quadrofiendia · 05/10/2006 16:29

I can't spell licence please excuse me!!

mimi1uk · 05/10/2006 16:34

thanks i gathered the reasons why etc! IS this the case for children of all ages, i guess it is, i.e. babies ??it seems mad that it is adhered to by some agencies and not others, ie, bruce and brown turned it down and this other agency did not?? suppose others a re more prepaired to take a risk??? so if it is just a photo in a mag a licence would not be needed?? x thanks for the advaice quad

trace2 · 05/10/2006 16:37

our local area we dont need lisence like we used to we used to apply every year, now my agency says when a shoot come up they just as for perrmisson from counsil

mrsratty · 05/10/2006 16:39

I don't really want to name and shame as they are an agency that do get work and some people are very happy with them, no one on this thread is though!

Quadrofiendia · 05/10/2006 16:40

the other agency would still have needed to obtain a licence if the client were requesting it which it would seem is what B and B are saying. So i'm not sure if they were living in cloud cuckoo land as the turn around for a licence is about a week. In theory yes even a photoshoot for a mag the child should still be licenced, whenever a baby/child works, I guess the reason its not strictly adhered to is because they clients don't request it, think in the case of tv work the clients are not prepared to take the risk, perhaps they get checked more.

mimi1uk · 05/10/2006 16:44

who is it mrsratty, i semi remeber the converstaion from before

Quadrofiendia · 05/10/2006 16:53

Trace2, I don't think yearly licences are issued anyomore, but if a client requested a licence for a job, not sure a nod from the council would be enough as the child protection in the district your child performing in would want to see a licence.

mellt13 · 05/10/2006 18:33

Hi All

Sorry to jump on this thread but I was thinking of possibly getting my daughter into child modelling any pointers how I can get started and who to contact.

Thanks

Kind regards

julie4travel · 05/10/2006 18:50

there is lots of good agencys. A website which says scam agencies is called www.alba.info which is a good source for advise

also when this site is back up and running correctly it has a list of agencies on it with personal peopls rateings etc. a lot on here are with bruce and brown, kids london, urban angels (there books open up in a couple of weeks and supposed to be superb) Mot, to name a few. good luck in finding an agent for your little one. Please note some agents are better for different age groups

dylansluckymum · 05/10/2006 19:25

hi all just to say tesco shoot went well was 2 hours including travel but he gets day rate cause it's for in-store posters which is fantastic! plus they're due to come out at the end of oct so ds' latest job will be the first one out. clothes were a bit big for him though so we'll see if they get used. and sod's law both other babies there were from b&b after all that talk about me not meeting anyone else with them!!! maybe that's who tesco only uses??

anyway hope everyone has a lovely evening!

Quadrofiendia · 05/10/2006 19:27

mimi1uk · 05/10/2006 19:31

mrsratty · 05/10/2006 19:32

Dylans that sounds great. I didn't realise you got a day rate for instore prommtion. I recognise a little boy from UA in quite a few tesco posters.

Quadrofiendia · 05/10/2006 19:34
