Does anyone do anything special for halloween...I would love any ideas as the kids are old enough this year to dress up and stuff and I'm in the mood for some decorations and candles etc.

I'll follow this thread with interest as my ds keeps asking for a Halloween party. He's 5.5 and I thought I might let him have 2 or 3 friends round, perhaps dress up and was looking for inspiration on any games they could play etc. One of my friends got together with 3 of her friends and their kids last year and had a party at one of the houses, everybody contributed something, drink, food, pumpkins!

apple bobbing - we loved it when I was a child

hmm was thinking apple bobbing but mine are all under 5....wet kids all round!

I thought about trying to make some sort of halloween type thing full of sweets that you bash with a stick to get the sweets out (can't think what its called) but I like the idea and the kids would love it

hi
i'm a childminder and always have a halloween party for my mindees 3.30-5.30
i have lots of decorations, spooky music, table decorations, halloween food. they all dress up and we play games or make things (see childminders thread craft ideas for halloween)

hotdogs = blood fingers
cupcakes = black icing and a spooky penny sweet
jelly = make it black
ice cream = with strawberry (blood) sauce
drinks = lemonade with food colouring
biscuits = homemade with halloween cutters
crisps = monster munch

when mindees go home i then take my boys aged 9 and 10 to neighbours (we know) for trick a treat

Apple bobbing came to my mind - but then so did 4 or 5 excitable boys - poss not the best combination in a small 2 bed flat!
Like your food ideas dmo - where do you get Halloween cutters from Wilkos perhaps?

dmo · 30/09/2006 09:02

got spooky cd and decorations from wilkos
got cutters from morrisons/asda
