Why is it every time I try and print labels I get a new and different problem...aaaargh!

Just spent nearly an hour fiddling and getting very frustrated. All I want to do is format my text and get it to print on labels but as soon as I try and get it into the labels box I lose all the formatting and can't get it back.

Can anyone help please?

i have the same problems and have given up forever, I will never try and do it again, sorry no help at all but it is a bump for you

are you printing them on a4 sheets? you can make a table and put addresses on them

anorak · 29/09/2006 12:53

I am printing on A4 label sheets. I have never heard of doing it with a table, can you take me through it step by step please? I'd love to learn to get this right for once and for all - every time I try and do labels I have major problems of some kind or another!

are you doing in on word? i just make a table with the same number of rows as the label sheet, then select borders to have no colour. it's hard to explain!

Thanks southeastastra

I've just given it a go, but the spacing isn't right for my labels, and when I try to adjust it it goes off the page on word. I always get problems like this, and I never know how to fix them. Even when I do manage to print labels, they rarely line up properly, it's so frustrating.

Can you suggest anything else please?

Thanks, I have managed to print them although they are still not quite right, the spacing is still a bit off and I have no idea how to insert a picture (which I might like to do another time), but I've managed to produce something that will do for now.

I really don't understand why printing labels is so troublesome, it's the same every time I try and each time it's a new and different problem since it seems there are so many different ways of doing them.

Mission accomplished for now, anyway, and thank you southeast!

i didn't do anything i know it's a pain!

anorak · 29/09/2006 14:53

I disagree, I doubt I'd have any labels at all by now if you hadn't tried to guide me!

Perhaps I'm just FFFick!!

to Anorak. To insert a picture onto a word document go to "insert" that appears at the top of the page. From the drop down box click on "picture " if you have a pic in your documents you want to use click on " from file " browse from your folders and when you find what you want click on insert. The same way for any pics from clipart. You can move and resize your pic to how you want it ,hope this helps you.

Oh thanks mummylin, I know how to do all that it's just when you try to print it on a label I come unstuck. Either the artwork won't transfer, or the spacing goes out the window so you get overlaps on the labels, that sort of thing, they never come out right.

Anorak, if you want to email me on [email protected] I have a handout that I have written for my computer classes that might be of some help!

anorak · 01/10/2006 11:39

Thank you alienears, I'll do that now.
