yes Twigg. your a very intelligent and articulate woman and you seem quite normal in your opinions so go for it.

i have thought about applying as a govener at DS's school but think im a little too common, and too controversial.
don't you have to be voted on? i havent been there long enough for anyone to know who i am let alone vote for me

I got voted onto the Board of Directors and my boys school. But this school's a non for profit charity. We basically help organise fundraising, help with the Montessori certification the school's going through, develop website and other ongoing activities. I'm loving it and it's a great way to be involved with the school.

I am not a born diplomat though

But I do get things done and am quite strategic

Do I want to sign up for 4 years?

I think you'd be good. Strike a blow for common sense!

4 years though ......

Alibaldi · 28/09/2006 17:34

I don't think you need to be too diplomatic . To be honest most of these places could do with stirring up. I'd go for it Twiglett. It's so great to use a brain for more than just motherhood in my case anyway.

Come and be a governor at the schol i am negotiating with - they need your brand of "But I do get things done and am quite strategic".....please

I am not a born diplomat either Twig and I have just been elected Vice Chair of our governors! I sometimes feel I get a bit angry about issues and show it but I think every governing board needs someone like that - just in case they all slip into complacency.

Meetings can be dull but it is nice to be involved and if you get involved properly than the teachers really appreciate it.
