Before I start Im a bit paranoid about food safety and sickness so Im not very good about being sensible about these things, always panic.

Anyway, bought some steak mince from asda last friday. The best before date was today.

I feel a bit edgy that it has been in the fridge for 6 days (even tho its still in date)

I have just made spag bol with it but i cant help worrying that it may smell funny etc etc

Reassure me please? (or tell me to bin it and stick some jacket potatoes in instead!!)

I'm sure it's fine

I'm sure you cooked it well which is important

Ive started it so early so I can simmer it slowly until tea time. It should be well cooked enough by then shouldnt it!!

it'll be fine

if it's well cooked it should be fine. you would have noticed if it had been off. Also - as long as you did not have it out of the fridge for too long when you bought it, it should have lasted to its sell-by date without problems.

maggiesmama · 28/09/2006 14:41

where else would it have been better stored but the fridge?

CheesyFeet · 28/09/2006 15:14

If it didn't look or smell manky when you used it, it'll be fine.

There wouldn't be any bugs in mince that would survive a good boiling anyway.
