just had my neighbour knock on my door. she has just been to put out her rubbish and found a parcel addressed to my dh in there. she says she last put her rubbish out b4 binday on weds, this parcel is franked the 5th, so it could have arrived on tuesday. the problem is, at the same time a pack of 11 vinyls was also sent to my dh which so far hasnt arrived. it is now very likely that the bin men collected it and its been chucked. the postman never put a card thro the door to say there were parcels left anywhere for us. i am fuming to say the least. it wasnt even in the correct bin cupboard!!

Complain to the manager of the depot. They take this sort of thing very seriously. Who is to say that the postman didn't nick it?

We've had problems with post being delivered to the wrong address, us receiving other people's post and I've always complained. We seem to have a stream of different postmen and some of them just don't know the area, can't find the house they want and so seem to deliver it anywhere so they don't have to take it back to the depot.

Definitely complain. They shouldn't leave parcels unsupervised anywhere without authority, let alone in a bin cupboard, that's asking for trouble. (I'm not sure though that binmen would just chuck an obviously unopened parcel?)

We have problems too, because our address is P Road, and a mile up the road is a row of houses called just P. Unofficially it's known as P Village - and it has a different postcode - but officially it doesn't and a lot of computers are now programmed with addresses, so they just turn the other "incomplete" address into ours, ignoring the postcode difference.

Unfortunately the house whose number is the same as ours has changed hands about 5 times in the last 15 years so there is a huge range of names attached and with a similar turnover of posties to Freckle's it's impossible for them to keep track so we are always getting their stuff. Of course we can't tell if we've ever lost anything...

We nearly had our gas cut off once when when somebody moved!
