If what you mean is would your old phone still receive texts when your sim card is in your new phone the answer is no as it's not the phone that receives the message, it's the sim card. If you saved messages to your card you can still retrieve ones that were sent to your old phone but messages that were saved to your old phone's memory will stay in there, so if you are passing your old phone on make sure you delete all the messages from that phone's memory. It will usually have a little phone or a little card next to it to indicate what it's stored on.

Have you got a new number with your phone?

If you have got a new number both phones will work as long as both contracts are active, so long as you have a SIM in both. Each phone will respond to one telephone number.

If you do not have a new number & are using the old SIM in the new phone - it doesn't matter you don't have top tell anyone you have a new phone because the number they dial is the same. Whichever phone the SIM card is in will ring.

A phone won't work without the SIM card. It is the SIM card which is the telephone number IYSWIM
