Ah - crossed posts - you answered my city v countryside question! A lot of the villages have toddler groups and are very friendly, so it's easy to build up a network of new contacts. There's also NCT activities that you can join in with. Can you make it up for a visit before you have to move? The Harpenden NCT have a meet up at a soft play centre in Harpenden on the first Wedns of each month.

Do you have an idea of when you will be moving?

misdee · 24/09/2006 20:41

wheathamstead is village, welwyn garden city is a town, and is lovely (well i live there so i should say that), loads to do round here.

Oooh not us then! Harpenden is lovely but very expensive, like Carolinamoon said moving up the M1 slightly is a good bet. Harlington is a good bet, really well thought of schools, you'll have to check the Ofsted reports but the upper school always used to be the best in the county. We are now Leighton Buzzard way and love it. It's about 40 mins from the airport but flights always report at stupid times anyway so there'll be no traffic! Luton is quite a big town these days and tbh I think you'll find it easier to make friends somewhere smaller outside and if you want to meet anyone in MK for shopping I am always up for it!!!

Just tell him there is always hope, once he's been there a few years we might consider him for a job with us I'm not sure you should be conversing with me though, I am the enemy...crewing!!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/09/2006 21:04

Sorry, DD woke up so had to disappear for a few mins.

As for why's it so bad, think I can sum it up in one word - rough!
