OPINIONS PLEASE - LEAVING KIDS TO GO TO SUPERMARKET

DH is asleep upstairs and kids (11 (v sensible)and 7 quite sensible) are watching tv in lounge. I need to go to supermarket but they don't want to come. Am tempted to go and leave them with strict instructions not to open door (which I know they won't) and if they are worried they should wake daddy. Anyone done this before?

I have years to go before this problem. I leave them with DH when he is home from work. Get this, me going to the supermarket is his idea of me having a break harharharharhar!

yeah, paula, my "me time" usually consists of exciting stuff like catching up with the laundry...

Coming to this late - I would have left them, but woken DH to tell him first. If you are in charge of a couple of children, you have to know that you are in charge!
If DH went off while I was sleeping and left me 'in charge', I'd marmalise him.
So I think I'd have told him - courtesy, if nothing else. Then it's his choice whether to go back to sleep again or not. If you don't tell him, he can't have the choice.
