All I want is a new credit card (chopped the last one up but need a new one to book a hotel online) I have had to speak to 2 people to get them to understand that my card is not lost or stolen, its just broke and I need a new one. FFS. Then persuading them to send the new one to my local bank and not my home branch.

Arghhhhhhhhh. 20 minutes to order a new fecking credit card. Which incidentially is fully paid off AND IN CREDIT so its not like I am scamming them for money! Grr.

if you want to use the same account, and just need a new card, can't you just use the same number as your old card had? The money would be charged to your account anyway.

I think the sending it to your local branch is a security issue that you may have more difficulty with- seem to recall we had trouble with that one when we had to cancel a card when we thought that it had been cloned, and were on our way to stay with my Mum for a fortnight. The bank deffo wouldn't send the card to her home address or to the local branch, only to our home address our our home branch.

I don't remember the special security code number on the back tissy and they might ask for the actual card when we check in?

It wasn;t a problem getting it sent to my local branch, it was a problem getting her to understand that I wanted it sent elsewhere.

ah, the security code...

could you phone the hotel and do it that way- they may not ask for the code over the phone (but might, I suppose). As for it being a different card when you check in/ out- don't worry about that- it's only to charge your card if you don't turn up. If you're there in person, you can pay however you like- another card, cash, cheque, whatever.

could you book with another card- dh's or a relatives, then pay with your own card when you check out, then?

Its hopefully coming to my local branch in a week so I will book it then (maybe?) am still debating -it would be a surprise for my DP if i booked it.

It was just such hard work communicating to the woman, at one point I thought I was talking to a machine because it was as if she was not even listening to me just repeating stock phrases.
