What do you make of this! whilst walking to car from school today 3 year old in pram asleep 5 year old by side. this obviously Grandma asks me can i help her with child seat as she couldn't get it fastened. Well ofcourse i tried but couldn't do it!?! so i asked mum i knew to try she couldn't do it then i asked another mum i sort of know and she point blankly refused saying she couldn't leave her kids she had etc..... i was a bit gobsmacked by this!! lady coming behind said she would try i looked after her kids. the grandma was embarrassed and didn't thank any of us. Maybe she was right to refuse to help what do you think? opinions please?

I would have helped as you never know when it might be you doing the asking!

QueenEagle · 21/09/2006 22:52

I guess she could have had allsorts of reasons to refuse. The kids could have been childminded - so she was right to refuse as you can't be too careful with other people's kids. One of them could have been SN? She could have had stress flatulence and would have been embarrassed when she bent over to fix the seat?

I'm liking your style QueenEagle but agree with anniediv you never know but weird thing is i actually helped this lady in question when i didn't need to carry her pram down two sets of stairs. You see i am too helpful don't t hink i will change now though. I kinda think what goes around comes around and all karma whatever and no i am noton anything (does glass of white sparkling half price wine from tesco count)?

aah but although I would have helped with the car seat I won't lift prams/buggys
people might think me or dh rude for not helping but not know that we have a disabled child so both have dodgy backs and have to be careful
so you just never know peoples reasons

lexiemum · 21/09/2006 23:12

forever get asked by grandmas (and grandads)in the multistorey to help put up the buggy or collapse it. don't mind, only tend to help if asked though
