Cocktail bars in London

Well SIL and I are off on a rare girls night out on Saturday, just the two of us.

We both fancy a cocktail bar somewhere, but as we're normally pub type people need some recommendations.

Does anyone know anywhere in central London that does decent cocktails, not too overpriced, serves food or snacks and where two not hugely trendy or beautiful women in their late thirties won't feel too out of place. Oh and no cattle market either!

the bar at the top of the oxo tower always used to be great

The bar in the Sanderson Hotel bar is fab. Not exactly cheap though, but possibly worth it for one or two.

Kettners in Soho is great, but pricey and likely to be jam packed on a Saturday night.

Oh god, we went to a lovely one in Covent Garden, ages ago, but I can't remember the name of it. All glass on the outside, and the tables had little trolls under them.

Pricy, though.

Oh 'Souk Medina' in covent garden is really lovely, and never horribly busy, plus in covent garden you are close to lots of lovely cake shops which I find essential on girls nights out!
