On way to taking DD to walk in centre last night there was a bus on the opposite side of the road. IT had pulled over by end of a street where there was a car and 2/3 young children[8 or9] in school uniform talking by the window. The bus driver had stopped to open his doors and shout to the kids if they knew who the man was in the car..they did it was one of the boys dad but just thought how nice it was of him to actually stop and query the kids talking to the bloke.

That's a heartwarming story for a mum to hear. We should all make a point of looking out for each other's kids. I wonder how many people walked past a sobbing Jamie Bulger and wondered if he was ok, but didn't say anything.

That's good.

Last week at work I saw some decent people too. It was Saturday night (well early Sunday morning actually) about 3am. I was upstairs at work writing the care plans when I looked out the window as I saw a car pull up quite suddenly across the road. Watching to see what I happened I saw 3 people get out of the car, 2 blokes and women - probably late teens/early 20's and walk up to "something" under the trees at the other side of the road.

I then saw them sitting a bloke up, asking him if he was ok (the window was open so I could hear) and telling him "you can't sleep here mate" (it was a pretty cold and damp night). Helped him up, and put him in the car to take him home!

It made me think how many people would have just driven past and left him there, or even worse perhaps stopped and stolen his wallet (he looked pretty 'out' of it).

It does offer a bit of reassurance when it seems so bleak that people would rather walk past than get involved.
