Ds' rugby team are going to Yorkshire on tour this weekend, playing at Wharfedale and Ripon. I just wondered if any of you are in the area and if so can you give me any hints for the area. The boys are actually staying between Pateley Bridge and Blubberhouses.

How old are they, jaybee? What sort of hints are you after?

The team is U10s - so aged 9 & 10. The siblings are aged between 5 and 15. Just wondered whether there was a nice park around that area that we could take them all to. They will be playing a couple of matches so alot of the time will be spent at rugby clubs.

jaybee - you simply must take them to Brimham Rocks, it's NT land off the Pateley to Ripon Road, just up from Summerbridge . Huge rock formations that are great for climbing and massive ferns make it look very prehistoric, it's pay & display parking or free for NT members. There's a cafe and a gift shop.

Well there isn't a lot there - it's walking country! But there is a small railway line that runs from Embsay (near Skipton) to Bolton Abbey, website , and Bolton Abbey itself is a nice place for days out, on the Wharfe. Embsay is only a village but has a good playground. Do you have mornings free? They're doing "Days out with Thomas" this weekend - OK for littlies, possibly not 10+!

You might be better heading into Harrogate. This is a bit of multimap showing Pately Bridge, Blubberhouses (on the A59)and Harrogate, Ripon just at the top, Embsay bottom L (you can see the railway line) - Knaresborough is nice too. HTH.
