Upwardly mobile? Pathetic DIY question!

My two girls have masses of mobiles. Fabric birds with bells on, a very nice horse, a Mexican toucan, various fish....and we've never put them up. Because I have no *ing idea - and nor has their father - on how you hang them from the ceiling. Do you get special hooks? Or do you use cup hooks? Or, er, what?

I told you this was a pathetic question, and no doubt you will all say DURRR and point out the obvious solution but please, please do point it.

We used sticky ones for light mobiles

cuphooks twisted in to the ceiling by hand - dead easy and mess free

CountessDracula · 05/04/2004 09:45

Yes that's what we did too, twisted hooks into the ceiling

Drawing Pins??

Cup hooks, definitely. You may need to locate the rafters to screw them into though if they need to be really secure or aren't very light. Nip up into the loft, look at which way they run and measure the distance between them. Your lightfitting will be fastened to one so this will help you locate the rest when you're back into the room (the wire coes down the side of a rafter and the fitting will be screwed into a rafter or hooked onto a hook which is screwed into one).

Many thanks. I shall pass this on to dp, and turn the Inferiority Complex into a charming scene of dangliness.

Hehehehe! I only mentioned the rafters because I've got a new light fitting for DS1s room which has a long wiggly track of lights and I think I've got to fix them all onto rafters.
