My dd loaned a pair of rollerskates of her friend, dh & I were not aware of this until she came to the house and had them on.Worst of it, she had no safety helmet on.
I told her to take tyhem off and give them back only to be subjected to mouthful, she called me cruel, bad mother.
I really do not like rollerskates I find them so dangerous{which I have tried telling her}, am I the only one out there.
Tell me of your experiences.

rollorskates are nor more dangerous than say riding a bike. i skated fro ma very young age, dd1 has started now at the age of 6, i need to get her safety gear, atm she just skates in the house.

skating canbe a safe enjoyable way of exercise. why do you think its so dangerous?

I used to love my roller blades.Stil have them!! I never wore safety gear though! I can understand your concern but they really are no worse than bikes etc.

They are the in-line skates, she can hardly balance on them iyswim.

My 4yo DD has roller skates (the type where you have the 3 stages of locking/unlocking wheels). She always wears a helmet with them. Can't see why they'd be any more dangerous than other stuff like bikes and scooters.

get her some quads, didnt like inlines as they place more stress on the ankles. dd1 has tri-skates (2 wheels at back, one at the front)

Were we live aswell is extremely busy with cars etc, i don't want to spoil her fun but I worry sick for her, she is not very careful iyswim.

skating is a great form of exercise, once she gets the hang of it, then you can go to roller skating places (we have a rollercity here) where they can skate in a safe enviroment, learn little tricks like jumps, and play games. guess where i used to spend every weekend?

as long as she is wearing the right safety gear and ios supervised, then its quite safe.

how old is she?
