Well after struggling for ages on a pathetic salary I have been offered a job for slightly more money. However as I get free prescriptions and WFTC I thought I would give the Inland Revenue a call to see if it is actually worth doing. I just know I am not going to like this job but if it were worth it finacially I would put up with it.

I called the IR number only to be advised by some surly horrible man (who also told me my kids were too noisy and to tell them to be quiet so he could hear me) that they were having system upgrades and to call back on Tuesday. I need to tell the new company if I am going to take the job on MONDAY. He told me to use the website if I needed to know urgently. Guess what? I won't be able to use it until TUESDAY.

I am so sodding mad right now. They are dealing with peoples lives here and they can't even have proper systems in place. I can't be the only one who needs to know something urgently surely. Am so so so mad!!!

What can I do?

Oh crap. The computers at my housing association were down today too (or so they say).

What do you need to know. I have one of those chart things from the IR giving the average income and then what you would get e.t.c.
If you know what you would be earnming a year i should be able to give you a rough idea of what you would get.
I fyou don't want to say on here email me through contact another talker

Thank you Nutcracker. The salary would be £13500 pa with possible bonuses. At the moment I get free prescriptions and around £200 a month tax credits. Could you let me know based on one child as my eldest (aged 17) is moving out next month. My other child is 3
