Is there some way that if I have mail being POP forwarded from two different addresses, that I can divide it up so I know what is from which one, or not?

The easiest way would be to set up two folders and then set up rules to sort the mail into the relevant folder as it arrives.

SaintGeorge · 15/09/2006 15:46

Yep, that's how I do it. I have 7 different email addresses all sorted by Outlook into folders.

Flamesparrow · 15/09/2006 15:54

We need babysteps here.... I can set up folders.. the rules is where I get a tad lost

I am using outlook 2007 and have somehow managed to get certain email addresses come up in different colours, but I'm damned if I can remember how

Ooh think I might have sussed that (and worked out how I did the colour thingy )...

Next question - when I am sending emails OUT of outlook - how do I know which address it is coming from?

Sorry

Well in mine it would be:

Tools
Rules & Alerts
New Rule
Create rule from Template
From templates list choose 'move messages from someone to a folder'
Click 'next'
Uncheck anything marked and tick 'through a specified account'
In the bottom box click on the highlighted words 'specified' and choose the account from a drop down box.
Repeat for the 2nd 'specified' and choose folder.
Click 'next'
Check exceptions if there are any and then click 'next'
Check the details, finish

My Outlook is a different version, but try this:

Create a new folder for the mail to go into:
Click on File, Folder, New Folder, type in a name for the folder and click on Inbox on the list to show it belongs there, then click OK

Rules:
Click on Tools, then Rules and Alerts. Click the New Rule button and then there should be a series of examples that you can use to build the rule up, or a blank version if you feel strong enough. I have one that I created that says
Apply this rule after the message arrives
from [email protected]
move to AlienEars folder

Does that help or make it worse?

x posted.

When you are sending a mail you will have a drop down option at the top called 'accounts' and you select the address you want to use in there.

You set a default which it will use everytime unless you opt to change it.

AlienEars · 15/09/2006 16:08

When you do a new message there should be an accounts button. Unless you change the settings the messages will go via your main account, but you can click the accounts button to send it by a different one.

Curse your flying fingers, you beat me again SaintGeorge!

Flamesparrow · 15/09/2006 16:21
