I just chased a HUGE one round the kichen with a can of Raid. He's currently dying under the couch and I could be passing out because of the amount of Raid I sprayed. Its the weather and the time of year, slightly cooler and they head in to feel part of a warm, comfy, family.

WELL THEY CAN F*** OFF!!!!

Kelly1978 · 13/09/2006 21:14

u are so mean, fg!
I haven't seen so many spiders, but daddylonglegs and wasps.

Beauregard · 13/09/2006 21:16

JonesTheSteam · 13/09/2006 21:18

Daddylonglegs everywhere here too, Kelly

Loads of spiders out in garden, but not so many inside!!! (Don't really mind them - will quite happily pick 'em up in a glass!!)

And they don't live long, do they? (daddylonglegs, I mean).

Isn't their life cycle about three days or something daft?

Don't really mind them either - but wasps!!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Beauregard · 13/09/2006 21:20

I walked up our driveway today and the pushchair brushed the edge of the front lawn and loads of the damn daddies flew up

shhhh · 13/09/2006 21:21

their life cycle is even less if they enter our home. Thats the same for all insects.! Evil evil things.

Apparently numbers are really up this year . dd has insisted on keeping an enormous dead one we found this morning. I'm just wondering if I can get away with chucking it in the bin but she's bound to remember and ask for it tomorrow! Urrgh!

MegaLegs · 13/09/2006 21:22

I have a pretty bad spider phobia and this time of year is a nightmare for me. It's only the big house spiders I can't cope with. Cooler, wetter weather brings them in. On Sunday night dh removed three for me in under 10 mins. I'm twitchy and sweating from just typing about them!

UrsulatheSeaWitch · 13/09/2006 21:22

Ooooh, there was a piece about this in the Guardian t'other day. Will go search. (The big roaming beasties are males on the prowl it said)

JonesTheSteam · 13/09/2006 21:23

Spiders are quite harmless though - can't hurt you (unless you live in OZ, of course!!!) Same of daddylonglegs.

Wasps are truly evil!!! They sting just for the hell of it.

At least bees only sting in self defence.

Wasps are the work of the devil!!!

MegaLegs · 13/09/2006 21:24

AAARRRGGGHHH thanks Bamboo! I keep wal;king into a big web that one makes acroos the front door everymorning - the boys watch in silence from the car as I leap around, frantically brushing myself off and screaming.

NotQuiteCockney · 13/09/2006 21:25

I quite like spiders, and have been impressed by the pony-sized ones I've been seeing this year.

Ok, they do startle me sometimes, but I like them really, and would never kill them.

(There are dangerous spiders closer than Australia - there are black widow spiders in France, where they kill a few people every year.)

UrsulatheSeaWitch · 13/09/2006 21:25

God, it was only yesterday!

shhhh · 13/09/2006 21:25

LOL "Wasp's are the work of the devil" .

Thing is in our home dh & I are like a couple of screaming kids..! We both hate them BUT suppose he's the man of the house so it's his role..!! Thats my excuse anyway .

OP posts:
shhhh · 13/09/2006 21:29

ursula, thats very interesting..thanks. Still hate them though .

No one has died from a spider in the uk...YET..! .

I'm now off to bed...several spider checks will be done first though.!
