i work for the local authority doing playschemes and after school clubs. the government has told us we need to be qualified up to nvq3 to lead the sessions. fair enough.
two years ago i put my name down to do the nvq, i couldn't find any information about it at all. finally i found out the government had changed the syllabus (or whatever it's called) and launched the new one jan this year.
i finally went to the introduction to be told by the assessor that because the scheme was 'art' based it would be better for me to do a diploma, as some of the content would be hard to show in a art based scheme. fine i thought so i enrolled on a diploma.
the course was listed in the prospectus as starting in Jan 07 during the day, which is perfect as i have two children etc. she has just called me to say the prospectus was wrong and the course is actually going to be evenings (which i can't do) she also told me the introduction was to start tonight in half an hour. (the college is 1 hours drive from me).
i want to cry. i have taken so much time to a) find the course and b) sort out the childcare. can they just print course times etc then change them! they want us to be qualified but i can only find this course to attend.
sorry rant over but feels better to get it out. but i feel like i have wasted so much time trying to do what ofstead have asked for, but they aren't providing enough courses.

poor you .
Could you do the course by distance learning eg Learn direct?
I've been trying to do an NVQ in my area of work for 2 years and thought I could start in September but found out in July they were only starting the level 2 which seeing as have been doing the job for 8 years , I felt would be a waste of time.
But at least my job does need me to get this qual.
