Why Can't They Leave them Alone?

Please correct me if I am wrong but why do papers such as the Sun have to be such ghouls.

I only saw the front page whilst I was paying for petrol (I think it was the Sun) but the Headline was "Sarah Paynes Dad in Suicide Attempt". For gods sake -that poor man lost his daughter in the worst possible circumstances and as a result his marriage broke up. Maybe he did try to take his own life but surely the last thing he needs is to see the whole sorry tale on the front page of the national press. I think that family deserve some peace and should just be left alone.

PS - I know the Sun did a lot when little Sarah Payne was missing and also helped to find her killer, but it still doesn't give them the right to broadcast personal details about the families lives two years on. What do you think

Agree with you totally pennypocket. These poor people had their grief spread over the front pages of every tabloid. It is like opening fresh wounds again and again.

They also have a fascination with telling us every horrible detail, why would we need to know all of it? Knowledge of the crime, and what a person has done is enough, I don't need the minute to minute account.

I agree. I just wish people could stop buying those stupid tabloids.

The epitome of bad taste

beansprout · 30/03/2004 09:22

Totally agree. I think the Sun and its pretend morality is a disgusting little rag. It doesn't care about anyone or anything except its own profits. How on earth is a story like that in the public or that man's interests? Grrrrrr

Unforgiveable. Am how terrible for Mr Payne to feel so desperate that he is prepared to leave the rest of his family behind.

handlemecarefully · 30/03/2004 21:52

I think its monstrous Pennypocket

Hulababy · 30/03/2004 21:59

It's horrid PP. The poor man needs leaving alone to deal with his life the best he can after all that has happened.

i did read the story, but it appeared to me that the paynes volunteered the info to the paper, not that somebody found out he had attempted suicide.
the paper did over dramatise it though with the headline.
