with ds1.
ds2 sprayed flash spray in his eye

he had to have his eye washed out and then dye put in and his eye examined for damage.

really annoyed with myself for leaving it where he could get at it.poor ds was so brave-it's really not a nice thing to have done.

OW!

So sorry, alex!

How is the wee one?

Try not to beat yourself up too badly, alex.

It was a mistake.

mrs2shoes · 08/09/2006 22:50

oh poor thing hope he is ok and you too

edam · 08/09/2006 22:52

and he would have to do it on Friday night when A&E is busy with all the drunks, wouldn't he? Glad ds1's OK.

you know a&e was quite quiet. we waited for triage and once he had been seen by triage he was taken through immediately. We arrived about 6.30 and we were home by 9ish so not so bad. i really thought triage would send him home and was quite shocked that they treated it so seriously.
he was fine and not in pain too.

his scream when it happened chilled me to my bones though.

Sorry to hear about your son, but expat is right. And on that very subject....
THANK YOU EXPAT!!! My parents seem to forget that mistakes can be made when it comes to me and my ds. I know they can be prevented, but they still happen! Just the other day my ds cut his foot on something that he had taken off a bedside table in my bedroom and brought round to my side of the bed. I felt terrible and couldn't stop crying. Although I was awake this time, my ds sometimes wakes up before me and I wouldn't have been able to prevent it from happening anyway if that was the case, but my mum thinks I shouldn't be asleep when he is awake! (I am 7 weeks pregnant fgs and shattered!) Then she asked if he was sleeping in his own bed. Even if he was, he would have still got into my bedroom and the same thing would've happened, what am I supposed to do, shut him out so that he gets upset and then cries and possibly hurts himself on something in the hallway!!! I suppose they forgot about the time I fell off the sofa when I was 6 months old, or when my sister went down a flight of concrete steps on her bike, or when I tripped over the drain and cut all my top lip open, or when my sister fell down a different flight of concrete steps.... They only seem to remember what excellant parents they were, none of the bad stuff!!
Sorry to hijack this thread, it's just something that really winds me up, other than that I get on really well with my parents!

i guess that's one of the things about being a grandparent-you get to pretend you were a perfect parent in your day!
acidents do happen.
