Crosby Stills and Nash 1st lp.
The Feeling - new one.
Greatest Hits of your favourite band / singer.
Homemade compilation Cd of songs that make you smile.
The Beatles '1'.
The Jayhawks 'Rainy Day Music'.

These choices will probably change within the hour as I think of more.....

A blend of old and newish, fast and slow!

Pink Floyd - dark side of the moon (Agreed!)
david bowie - hunky dory
johhny cash - the man comes around
pixies - surfer rosa / doolittle
arcade fire - funeral
dirty pretty things - waterloo to anywhere

moondog · 08/09/2006 22:35

Ooh,yes,Surfer Rosa a goodie (although not essential listening imho)

comforting to see that most of these are rather "dated" ...

says the lady who grew up with genesis / the beetles / bowie / oh ( and of course ) the bay city rollers

Surfer rosa / doolittle is partly included because it's really two albums on one cd!

it's a tough question, particularly not knowing what kind of thing CT is into.

aDAdOnMumsnet · 08/09/2006 22:38

there's my answer! CT is into good music!

turnupthebass · 08/09/2006 22:47

Moondogs car sounds good to me!

2nd go:

Wish you were here - Pink Floyd (I like Dark Side but its just better!).
Gold - Ryan Adams.
Best of Beautiful South.
Unplugged - Neil Young.
Every Picture tells a story - Rod stewart.
Mermaid Avenue - Billy Bragg and Wilco.

moondog · 08/09/2006 22:49

Gold is great.
Beautiful Soth pretty lightweight though.

It is my mission to get everyone to buy 'Tumbleweed Connection' and realise how brilliant Elton was in his heyday (although of course he is shit now)

turnupthebass · 08/09/2006 22:55

If we're driving a bit of singalong always goes down well though ( and Beautiful South is definitely singalong?).

You got Al green in there and Adad got Hunky Dory in so I can't have those!

Early Elton is superb - agree on converting the people who only know the later stuff.

A soul 6?

Marvin & Tammi Terrell.
Al Wilson - Searching for the Dolphins (has The Snake on it!).
Sam Cooke best of.
Best of Al Green.
Temptations - Cloud 9.
Isley Brothers - 3 x 3.

Hot summer day, long car journey, windows down...

Sandcastles · 09/09/2006 05:58

can you lot stop going on about CDs. Mine are all in a boat & you have no idea how much I need music!!!!!!!!!!!!!

aDAdOnMumsnet · 09/09/2006 08:34

moondog - I'm not an elton fan but was reading that his brand new album is supposedly his best for 20 years.

turnupthebas- wish you were here is a corker too, maybe a bit more 'singalong' as well.

Under no circumsances include CDs for your DCs, because if it's anything like our car a little voice pipes up from the back every journey saying "I want my music".

wheresmyfroggy · 09/09/2006 08:44

At the moment we have

The Kooks - inside out, inside in
The Feeling - Twelve stops and home
Kasabian - Kasabian
Tom Vek- We have sound
Keane - Hopes and fears
Beck- Guero

moondog · 09/09/2006 09:49

Do they Dad??
Hmmm, his voice is a lot coarser now though (and I could never forgive anyone involved in Rice/Webber musicals. Shudder)

Great choices Turn Up!!
