Anyone know Tonbridge, Kent?

We currently live in Essex/East London but are considering moving in the next couple of years for various reasons. DH's work (building) tends to take him to London and Kent mainly and as he drives time on the road mounts up. Dd is in Yr 1 and ds in Nursery. The school they attend gets good results and they both love it but secondary schools in the area aren't that great. Dh has worked in Tonbridge and really likes the town and surrounding area. Our budget would be about £340,000 roughly. Does anyone live near there please who could give me some insider info?

i live in tonbridge, secondary schools are all good, we have grammar system but the high schools are also good (you have to live in tonbridge itself to be sure of getting place). depending on where in tonbridge you are looking depends on quality of primary schools, but i think in comparison to other areas they are all quite good. shopping is ok but tunbridge wells is only 15minutes away, thats lovely. With your budget you could probably get a reasonably nice detatched house.
