How do you know if something from Ebay is genuine ?

Am looking at handbags at the minute, the Fendi Spy bag for MIL's birthday.
The right up looks genuine and the pics look genuine but how do you know.

Have a look

I would be gutted to think i'd brought MIL a fake bag but there is no way I can afford one direct from the Fendi store

Why would anyone want to pay £800 for a bag??? That's more than 2 months rent for me. I'd want the hers of bloody cows that made it as well for that money!!!!!

arfishymeau · 06/09/2006 12:35

I think fake. I always check them out by looking at what else they are selling. If they have more than 1 designer bag then they are fakes, unless they have limited sales of pre-owned bags, or just one bag and their transaction history has been on lots of other things.

expatinscotland · 06/09/2006 12:41

I agree, Ikl. Even if I had £800 to blow on a handbag, it seems pointless.

I don't buy fakes, either, b/c the profits from counterfeit goes to benefit terrorism and human slavery.

wartywarthog · 06/09/2006 12:47

my general rule is that i only bid on things that i really know about - ie. i've seen the genuine article close up and am confident enough to be able to spot a fake. plus if the description doesn't explicitly say it's the genuine article but says 'stamped xxx' or similar.

i think you have a case if it's described as a genuine and then turns out not to be. and i'd definitely check out their reviews.

crunchie · 06/09/2006 12:47

Look at the feedback comments they are all good, although one says 'good copy'!! think that says it all. For the fendi bag that is.

This is unlikely to be genuine, however it looks like a nice bag.

The chole is deffo fake, she doesn't actually SAY authentic Chloe or genuine Chloe, she says geniune soft leather!!!

crunchie · 06/09/2006 12:49

actually reading the description on the fendi bag again she doesn't say 'genuine fendi' more genuine real leather etc.
