A theory about birthdays (sorry Posey!!)

Sorry for starting a theroy of my own Posey but your birthdays thread made me think of it.

You know the rhyme about which day of the week you were born on? In my family it seems to work, we were all born on different days and we seem to have temperaments roughly right according to the rhyme. Like I was born on a Friday and seem to be more easy-going and tolerant (sorry sis) than my sister who was born on a Saturday and does love working really really hard.

Does it work for anyone else?

And forgot, my dd was born on a Monday and everyone keeps saying what a pretty baby she is compared to others they've known (don't mean that as a boast, it just fits the rhyme).

Post the rhyme and I'll let you know, I can't remember the whole thing.

Monday's child is fair of face;
Tuesday's child is full of grace;
Wednesday's child is full of woe;
Thursday's child has far to go;
Friday's child is loving and giving;
Saturday's child works hard for a living.
But the child that is born on the Sabbath day
is fair and wise, good and gay

Recently, they've introduced a new politically correct version, where Wed, Thur and Sun have been changed but that's just idiotic

Oh, and UH was born on a Thursday - how much more proof do I need? He does have a long way to go - how does a long walk off a short cliff sound?

OK, DS1-Thursdays chiild has far to go. I take that as meaning he'll go far in life in whatever he chooses. Yes he is very bright and learns new things very easily so hopefully thats right.

DS2-Tuesdays child id full of grace. Ermmm not really sure what the means but he is quite conciderate to other people(shares well with others except DS1!) and he's not 3 until June so thinks thats right too.

DS3- Wednesdays child is full of woe. OH MY GOD that is soooooooooooo right. He cries much more that the other two did as babies and is much harder work than they were too. Is only really happy is with me, preferably being carried around.

So it does work here along as I've got the meanings right.

wobblyknicks · 27/03/2004 10:49

Have I got a theory that works then? Yippee!!!

Both of mine were born on a Tuesday and they're the heaviest-footed pair of heffalumps to walk this earth!

On the other hand I was born on Friday and I'm lovely

LIZS · 27/03/2004 11:11

Both mine born on Mondays - they're fair of face in my eyes at least

wobblyknicks · 27/03/2004 11:13

sm - are they very forgiving/tolerant - ie, full of grace in that way?

OP posts:
jampot · 27/03/2004 11:14

My twin sister and I were born on a Tuesday and we are not full of grace, my ds was also born on a Tuesday and he is not full of grace either, my dd was born on a Monday and she is fair of face (to me).

spacemonkey · 27/03/2004 11:15

well dd is a very loving child but with teenage hormones on the rampage she's not particularly tolerant at the moment

ds is high strung, volatile and moody - can't imagine who he gets that from

wobblyknicks · 27/03/2004 11:16

Its just like horoscopes then, all depends what spin you put on it!!

OP posts:
gold123 · 27/03/2004 11:18

I think mine are right too:
dd - born on a Thursday - she is so talented in dance everyone comments on her natural flair to perform. Not happy unless she suceeds.
ds - born Friday - he gives the best hugs ever and is always considerate.
Me - Monday - and I never go outside with my face on. I always look the part even if I don't feel it.
dh - don't know, will have to ask him - probably Saturday, as he never stops working.

eddm · 27/03/2004 11:21

Well I've never liked this rhyme, possibly because I was born on a Wednesday. Moan moan moan it's so not fair I'm going to cry
Ds is very affectionate (Friday) but is only 8 months so who knows...

wobblyknicks · 27/03/2004 11:24

eddm - they can't be right for everyone, am sure you're not full of woe.

gold - glad they work for someone, when was your dh born?

OP posts:
gold123 · 27/03/2004 11:28

by the way meant to say don't go out without my face on.

He was born 16 May 69 - He's got his mobile switched off so I can't ask him (he's working !)

eidsvold · 27/03/2004 11:28

guess it seems right for my dd - born on a Thursday - she does have far to go just to achieve the ordinary....

I on the other hand was born on a Tuesday and have very little grace

wobblyknicks · 27/03/2004 11:30

eddm - you'll like this then;

Monday's child is fair of face,
Tuesday's child is full of grace,

Wednesday's child is brave and glad,

Thursday's child is never sad,

Friday's child is loving and giving,

Saturday's child works hard for a living,

But the child who is born on the Sabbath Day
is good and kind in every way.

Its one of the new 'pc' ones - seeing as we're not allowed to be sad or gay now, and everyone has to have something 'good' for their day!

OP posts:
wobblyknicks · 27/03/2004 11:32

gold - your dh is a Friday then.

OP posts:
wobblyknicks · 27/03/2004 11:35

eidsvold (and jampot) - I bet you're both full of grace in the kindness sense!

OP posts:
gold123 · 27/03/2004 11:39

Well thats blown that theory then - well he is always happy to give me money, so maybe not to far off the mark then. Clutching at straws now.

wobblyknicks · 27/03/2004 11:43

lol @ gold. IMO, anyone willing to give you money is pretty loving and giving!!!

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 27/03/2004 11:44

I'm a Thursday and I've not gone far yet!

wobblyknicks · 27/03/2004 11:48

Soupy - how about never being sad?
