I want to get some cds for ds, but I don't want those twee singy songy ones (we have one of them already, that's plenty!).
I remember a thread on this before, but can't find it anywhere!
So far I have got as far as ' Carnival of the animals' and also possibly that planets one

Any suggestions of cool/interesting cds/songs around?

DS loves the Chilli Peppers!

JessaJam · 05/09/2006 11:55

Yeah,, ds loves all sorts, he bops away to MTV2 and Scuzz . Particularly keen on dodgy metal with heavy guitars!
Which is fine, but I refuse to buy him (or anyone) a Trivium cd!!!

jungle book cd is nice

Toddlers love Busted. Sad but true.
Try Green Day if you can't bear the shame in HMV.

Have loads of punk and rock cds around, and will happily snaffle some of those for him.

Naxos do a fun range with narratives
their Carnival of the Animals is with Jonny Morris, and another one has Edna Everage.

also my dcs like 'Carmen' by Bizet, the music only not the opera, lots of marching about to the Toreadors Song
and a very big fave is Rimsky-korsakov 'Flight of the Bumble Bee'

Peter and the Wolf. Ballets like Swan Lake, the Nutcracker or Romeo and Juliet .

Musicals are altogether good - Jungle Book as Hana says, but loads of others, whether for children or adults. Somehow fantastically good for cheering up tired mums too.

Eg Mary Poppins, Oklahoma, High Society. HUGE hit with us is The Little Shop of Horrors, but that's for a bit older (ds & dd now 7 and 5).

Bink · 05/09/2006 13:41

West Side Story, too - ds has loved that since about 3.

PS - I discovered this when sitting exhaustedly (and a bit miserably) with 4-month-old bored cranky ds and High Society [I think it was] came on telly.

And little ones don't mind you singing along, in fact they're really impressed.
