my 3 yo would prefer the pirate ship

coderoo · 04/09/2006 21:11

caslte

SoupDragon · 04/09/2006 21:11

We have versions of both and the castle is a PITA because it is big and has to be rebuilt if you don't have the space to leave it out.

tortoiseshell · 04/09/2006 21:11

I would definitely go for the pirate ship, and before I bought it, would check that it is not made up of 1000 little bits that would annoy me every time he played with it - the castle looks quite annoying in that way, and also looks huge!

tortoiseshell · 04/09/2006 21:12

x posted SD!

Overrun · 04/09/2006 21:12

Hi, unless he is completely mad about pirates the castle looks better. My dts have the pirate ship and it is a bit fiddly, and hard to keep the masts staying up, they don't play with it as much as I thought they would. they are 22 months

nutcracker · 04/09/2006 21:13

Ds would prefer the castle I think.

WideWebWitch · 04/09/2006 21:13

castle looks better and you could have figures. but from a least annoyign to you pov prob the ship! My boy is nearly 9 now though but when he was younger I still think the castle.

granarybeck · 04/09/2006 21:13

definitely pirate ship. My ds has two different ones and still plays with both. His friends always like them too. And he's 9 now!

domestickler · 04/09/2006 21:15

Its SO hard. He has expressed interest in pirate ship and not castle (but I think that is merely because he saw the pirate ship and hasnt seen the castle!)

DS 3 1/2 has a similar pirate ship and really not interested in it. Went to friends house recently who had a similar castle and he loved it. I'd buy the castle, but the size might be an issue.

PanicPants · 04/09/2006 21:16

castle

domestickler · 04/09/2006 21:16

glassofwine do you want to sell me your pirate ship and Ill give him that for christmas and buy the castle for his birthday !

tortoiseshell · 04/09/2006 21:16

My friend's ds has the playmobil castle, and tbh it spends most of its life either in pieces, or on top of a wardrobe so it can't be taken to pieces. I've tried to put it together, and it really isn't easy....

MrsSpoon · 04/09/2006 21:21

Le Chateau

Glassofwine · 04/09/2006 21:53

Would love to sell you the ship, but you wouldn't want it, there all sorts of bit missing (another reason no to get it)

wheresmyfroggy · 04/09/2006 21:55

Personally I would have preferred the castle when I was little

lionheart · 04/09/2006 22:01

My ds had the castle but it took up half the room so I send it away to the charity shop. He now has the pirate ship which he can at least stow on a shelf.

foxtrot · 04/09/2006 22:19

Pirate ship, santa gave my 3yo a playmobil one for xmas and my DC love it. You could always save the annoying little bits for when he is older.

fattiemumma · 04/09/2006 22:23

ds will be 6 in two weeks ( im getting old)

he has a pirate ship very similar to that from ELC a couple of years back. he absolutly loves it and despite being 2 or 3 years old he plays with it almost daily.

my top tip would be that when you put it together get some superglue and glue all the peices into place otherwose youwill forever have him runnign to you whinging that the masts have fallen out.

Mind you saying that i have also seen that castle (what a bargain) and have been considering this for his birthday this year.

Alibaldi · 04/09/2006 22:40

Castle. He borrowed one when we were over in the UK and still talks about it now.

domestickler · 04/09/2006 22:54

alibaldi - how old is he?

OP posts:
Gobbledigook · 04/09/2006 22:55

my 3 boys would go for the castle

singersgirl · 04/09/2006 23:00

We've had both pirate ships and castles (not the same ones) and my 2 (now 8 and 5) have played far more with the pirate ship. The castles we've had (one Playmobil, and another cheaper one, not the ELC one) both fell apart all the time and were really fiddly to put together. But the ELC one might be better.

dmo · 04/09/2006 23:04

think the castle
ELC do figures for the castle to add to that castle for relatives to buy
ELC castle is much deared than the argos one and the argos one looks fab
