Little baby xx-xx
I love you very much
You're full of milky goodness
and silky to the touch

to the tune of Stevie Wonder's Superstition

Tommy · 26/03/2004 14:07

Stinker Brown, came to town,
needing a new nappy.
Mummy put a clean one and now we're very happy.

The one they like best is to the tune of Little Peter Rabbit (glory glory hallelujah)
Daniel, Daniel, Daniel, Daniel (repeated x4)
Dan dan dan dan dan dan. DAN DAN!

The tune is fun and he likes but I guess I could work on the lyrics a bit more....

debster · 26/03/2004 15:41

We like to sing the following to the tune of Smelly Cat by Phoebe in Friends

Smelly bum
Smelly bum
What are they feeding you?
Smelly bum
Smelly bum
It's not your fault!

Only really makes sense if you've seen that particular episode of Friends!

charlieplus3 · 26/03/2004 15:45

Row Row Row your Boat gently out to sea
And if you see a mermaid there
Give her a kiss from me

(big sloppy kiss over toddlers face)

spacemonkey · 26/03/2004 15:57

Sung to my ds Guy to the tune of Copa Cabana (Bazza Manilow):

His name is Gee-Gee
He did a Wee-Wee
And a steaming log too
It was brown and blocked the loo
He is the Gee-Gee boy
My little Gee-Gee boy
With his big brown smelly bot
He's like a hottentot ...

at the Gee-Gee, Gee-Gee Cabana etc etc ad nauseam

I sing to ds in the tune of 'grandma - we love you

Maxi, I love you

Even when you're not with me
I think of you
And when I miss you
And you're far away
I know that I will see you later on in the day.

And to the tune of Daisy Daisy

Maxi-mino

You're my hero
In everything you do
I love you with all my heart

When you're asleep
In your lovely snuggly cot!!

Stick your bottom in the air
If you don't we can't get your nappy on
Stick your bottom in the air!

motherinferior · 26/03/2004 16:43

I sing a very silly song about feet ('who's got feet with toes on the end of them, who's got feet with toes on the end of them, who's got feet with toes on the end of them, who's my gorgeous girly-whirly-whirl' to a made-up tune.

MrsGrump · 26/03/2004 16:54

"Torture session, Torture Session,
Tor-tor-torture-torture torture torture torture session"

"One little two little three little teeth
Four little five little six little teeth
Seven little eight little nine little teeth --
Ten little Cavity-free teeth"
Both used for tooth brushing.

Just for fun:
"Row row row your boat,
gently across the river,
If you fall in you'll get wet
Then you'll start to shiver!"

"Row row your boat,
swiftly 'cross the lake
Pirahnas there will eat you up
and make you Baby steak!"

Northerner has escaped from this thread and burst into song in the middle of Facial Hair....

eemie · 26/03/2004 19:17

To the tune of 'Head, shoulders, knees and toes'

When she was a baby, at bedtime:-

Nappy, jammies tittie bed (tittie bed)
Nappy, jammies, tittie bed (tittie bed, oh)
Nappy, jammies, tittie, bed
Nappy, jammies tittie bed (tittie bed)

I occasionally heard my husband singing it all by himself...

As her routine changed it grew to:-

Teeth, bath, jammies, story, bed ... etc.

She still thinks that the owl in The Owl and the Pussycat sings 'oh lovely , oh my love, what a beautiful you are'. We put her name into as many songs as possible, like 'My Bonnie lies over the ocean'.

As soon as she could talk she started to adapt songs and rhymes herself, eg 'we're going on a SOCK hunt, we're going to find some PINK ones'

Marina, love your bathtime anthem...definitely going to use that!

papillon · 26/03/2004 19:49

JJ · 26/03/2004 22:56

damn smileys aren't supposed to be there.

Yes, we have issues with eating.

carla · 26/03/2004 23:06

Cod,they're not hilarious... they're all barking!

OldieMum · 26/03/2004 23:23

I love my baby Mary
She is just like a fairy
Sometimes she's quite contrary
But usually she's not.
I love her when she's smiling;
I love her when she's frowning;
I love her when she's happy
And I love her when she's not.

This is adapted from a song my mother made up to sing to me. At the end, I used to ask "What's 'not'?". My mother would explain, "Not happy", but I would forget that when she sang it the next time.

Angeliz · 26/03/2004 23:54

what a beeyou tee ful worm

you can do it in all kinds of squeaky voices too

then we have our eating songs (which go on for ever) along the lines of:

yum scrum apricot
soon you're going in your cot

etc etc ad infinitum

Angeliz · 27/03/2004 12:48

sassy · 27/03/2004 12:56

To the tune of "Lily of Laguna(?" an Old Time Music hall song I learned at school

She's my Becky Boo
She is my Boo, my Becky Boo,
she's got ginger hair that doesn't curl,
Such a lovely girl, my Becky Boo.
I know she likes me,
I know she likes me, because she says so,
She is my tiny Beckety-Beckster,
A little Becky and a Boo.

And about a ton of other songs made up to suit the moment.
